Pictures on journal User Info page?

I like the scrapbook feature in principal quite a lot, so I hope I am not "looking a gift horse in the mouth", but I notice that once I upload a photo to the LiveJournal Scrapbook (and make it public instead of restricted/prvate), on my journal's User Info page between the memories and interests sections a new category, "pictures" has appeared? There does not seem to be any means of suppressing the heading through the "Edit Info page" options?
I'd like to use the scrapbook to store images that I occasionally link to in my journal, but I would really prefer not to have all the images collectively linked to in gallery/album format from my User Info page?
You can specify user groups that can see the pics - that would be a way to limit exposure of them.
Or is this not what you're asking?
No, I think they're referring to the fact that there is a link on your userinfo page that alerts people to the fact you're using scrapbook at all. I'm not sure if it shows up if all your galleries are private, but I think it goes by the picture's security setting (but could be wrong)
It says pictures and then how many you have that are public. It would be nice to have an option to remove that from our user info.
What a cool icon, I've never seen one like it! :)
Um, re: the 'pictures' showing up on the userinfo page... maybe if you make the galleries all 'private' it won't show up anymore? It's worth a try.
It does, indeed, only count public pictures. Make them all private or friends-only.
Mine are all accessible only by a special select group, yet the listing on my user info page says they're public. They've never been set up as publicly available. Weird.
Oh, well. You just tease the curious minded instead.
Thanks!! It's from a Japanese cell phone website. It's supposed to be a cell phone wallpaper. *grins*
I wish I could have that as my cell phone wallpaper, maybe one for each of the seasons. :)

you can create a private gallery with public pictures so they will be visible only via direct link in the entry without listing of gallery contents.
THANKS! That is excactly the information with which I was hoping for someone to enlighten me.
Out of curiousity, why *don't* you want that link on the userinfo page? I've seen a lot of objections to it, and I'm not sure what the big deal is.
Also, you've used a whole lot of question marks up there, but haven't actually asked any questions! Ha. That's weird. ;)
...the questions were implied
The point was if I make pictures in the Scrapbook private, then I can't link to them in my journal - link meaning include the url of the photo in my post, and use the scrapbook as a "photobucket"esq type of service... (Or only friends would see them, everyone else would see a blank space).
Just because I want to be able to upload, store, and link to these photos does not mean I want my user info page to advertise that I have a "album" of photos to share?
Like the toggle to show or hide whom you are a friend of, I'd really like to see LiveJournal give me the option of whether or not to include the pictures
link on my user info page.
The thing is, pretty much everyone who knows about ScrapBook knows that you can get to a paid user's ScrapBook by going to http://pics.livejournal.com/exampleusername/
. So, hiding the link won't do anything, really. It's the whole "security through obscurity" thing, and isn't really hiding your pictures from anybody. If you're that concerned, then you should make the pictures friends-only or private.
I'm not that concerned about privacy... if I were I wouldn't be posting photos in a public forum. Besides, there are plenty of other anonymous places one can store pictures... but since this community is intended to discuss the Scrapbook feature while it is in beta testing, I thought I would mention the enhancement/change I would most like to see. So much of LiveJournal is about customization, it seems out-of-character for this aspect to not be customizable... that is all.
