Hi, thought I may as well mention this here. I suggested something [Create Search Shortcut for User's Image Gallery] a while back via suggestions. At the time I don't think the beta had been extended to paid accounts and less people were familiar with it. So no comments have been made on the entry. I thought I'd highlight the entry here in case anyone was interested, 'course there may've been no comments if the suggestion sucked too. ;)

Also, my alt tags on the actual pictures (uploaded via the web client) always say 'The image “http://pics.livejournal.com/myusername/pic/xxxxxxxx” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.' The pics look fine (and I haven't expressly inserted alt text). I didn't know whether that was an old bug that's been reported lots already. :/

Lastly, does anyone know if the LJ.com userinfo page field "Pictures: xx public" can be disabled so it doesn't appear? Or is that a planned option?

I believe ( But I'm not 100% sure ) you can get rid of the Pictures just by making all your galleries Registered Users Only ( Or higher.. ) ..

A search function would be nice :)

but what if you want SOME public pictures? a majority of mine are friends only, but it still says I have 500 some pictures, although, I have never checked while logged out.

Most of mine are public also, only my Style and User Icons are Registered Only.. But I imagin it to be like the # of Posts and Comments in your user info.. Something they arn't gonna take out.. ( Though now that I think about it, it would be nice if we could pick and choose exactly what info is in the user-info.. then again it could work against the "community" feel to lj.. )

I think that it is a lot like memories, you can see how many there are, but you can only see the ones you are permitted to see.

It would be nice if we could toggle on and off memories/pictures like we can contact info

UGH and this replying from email thing not working needs to get fixed!

Just so you know, it says 535 to me and since I'm not your friend and you obviously don't have that many public . . . yeah

Is most of live journal down or just this part

(Link)
It says if I'm a paid subscriber and I want to beta test this part, I can join this group and post photos. When I go to pics/livejournal.com/woodkelly it says I don't have the right kind of account. Is this temporary?

Possibly. The main site does seem to be experiencing some temporary problems at the moment. Actually this community isn't for posting photos itself; just for asking about the ScrapBook service which is in beta testing and reporting bugs etc.

ScrapBook is available at pics.livejournal.com for paid account holders but your userinfo page currently says you have a free account. That's why you get the account message. Your userinfo page lists you as a member of the 'paidmembers' community suggesting you once had paid time on your account but that expired. So you'd need to purchase paid time if you wanted to use the ScrapBook photo hosting. Alternatively, if you think your journal is somehow listed as a free account incorrectly you can ask about it over at Support.

Mine's not appearing at all, and I'd like it to. :(

Mmm, you're right. I don't see the link on your userinfo page either. Let's swap. ;)

Your ScrapBook page states "There are no galleries to display." It may display that irrespective of whether non-public galleries do exist though, I don't know.

Hey, your style shows up too. I must be doing something wrong with mine. I chose a style, but it didn't change. And the link was on my user info page, and then it wasn't. I tried making the entire gallery public, but that didn't work. It's set now to a particular group for viewing. Maybe there are just some bugs in it today?

Okay, I think I got it now. You, apparently, have to have some public pictures for it to show up on your user info page. So, if you want to take it off of yours, you would simply make it available only to specific groups, and then you could link to it in your journal somewhere if you want your friends to know about it. :)

And I got my layout to change too, so I'm good.
