Both worked fine for me. Can you give some more information?

Are you using a client? If so, which? If you're using the web, what browser?

Maybe there's something wrong with your images. Can you post them somewhere else so people can look at them?

I can't post them anywhere - Photobucket.com is just converting them to bitmaps, which is why I was trying this in the first place. [They are going to be icons some day].

I'm just using the web, Micrsoft Internet Explorer, and am unlikely to be able to download anything due to being on a school computer.

Ahh, yeah. Your images are broken.

Lemme guess, you found them on some website, right-clicked and went Save Picture As...?

Internet Explorer has an issue where, under certain circumstances, it'll download all images as bitmaps, regardless of their original format. If this is what's happening (you'll know it is if you right-click and image, hit Save Picture As, and it comes up with a filename of Untitled and the type is .bmp), then visit this link for instructions on how to fix it up. You might need to have an administrator do it since you're at school.

If that's not the problem, then you might need to try an alternate browser. Maybe your school will install Firefox for you if you ask real nice :)

No - they're mine - all mine - designed myself! Saved variously as .png and .gif through paint.

There's your problem :) Paint only supports bitmap and jpeg (and poorly, at that). So when you save them as .gif files, they're actually bitmaps with a .gif extension. Same for .png.

Get a real graphics program and try again, I'll bet you'll be surprised at the quality of the result.
