Photo MMS posting with error messages in LJ

About

Previous Entry Photo MMS posting with error messages in LJ Nov. 24th, 2004 @ 12:33 pm Next Entry
I have a samsung e317 vga camera phone. I have cingular wireless as my provider.

I have not been able to forward MMS photos to my livejournal account and have them show up. It almost gets there, but the photo does not show up - it just posts straight to the journal, with no picture. THe first time I did this, my scrapbook created a "LJ_Emailposts" but there were no photos that showed up. The jouranl post that does show up contains error information (which I will cut and paste from a previous post I made here).

I send from: my10digitnumber@mms.mycingular.com to
mgosie+"pin"@post.livejournal.com

The following is the error message that shows up in my live journal:

I've had trouble posting from my Cingular account as well. I can't see the error message, though: I think it got eaten when you posted this message.

There is the error message. Hopefully someone will see this now!

How did you get it to work with cingular?

Can you verify that 93,652 bytes is actually the size of the image you were trying to upload?

ehm...maybe.

my phone says the message size is 56KB, transaction code (on the same image I just sent to Mahlon) 1679699076
MMS version 1.0

actually, it might have been the picture of the cheesecake that i tried to upload - that says 92KB, transaction ID 896577998

Its a nice cheesecake. Seriously though, i have my phone setting set to SUPER FINE - thus the size is big?

i am having the same problem.. i have a sony ericsson T637, and cingular as well..

i tried sending it from a regular email address from my phone (the T637 has an email client) to try to cut down on my mms usage (i have the media works package, it has unlimited gprs but only 200 mms a month), and it gives me that error sometimes, if no error then the subject is screwed up..

when i sent it as a mms message, it worked fine.. both addresses (email and mms.mycingular.com address) are in my allowed sender addresses list..

Seems like Photo Journal has a bug to work out. Who do we send email to, to get this error reported and solved?

that i don't know.. i looked around, i think i might just click on the provide feedback for this page button on the bottom of http://pics.livejournal.com

i'll be sure to mention a way to contact someone for bugs.. :)

erm.. i sent a message using the main page, and it said i could send in as many as i want, or to post here in the community..

i'm guessing whomever does some of the dirty work with scrapbook/fotobuilder also reads this community.. :)

I may be wrong, but the BEST way to get help would be through this entry. They might be receiving a large amount of emails to begin with, and it may take them some time to respond to yours.

Then I anxiously await to be fixed all up by someone in coding authority! ;-)

Yep, this entry gets our attention. We're looking into this now, but still not sure what the problem is yet. Thanks for your patience / report.

Yay. Let me know if you need any email headers that I have from my phone - or for me to try it again and report more error messages.

/somewhat glad I'm not the only one having the problem...

Actually, what would really help me try and troubleshoot this is for you to send me a picture, to examine all the headers/mime myself.

Can you shoot a test pict over to mahlon@danga.com?

Make it interesting. :D

sending now from my phone by MMS...

Let me know if you need email headers from the one I sent as a test to my Yahoo account. Nevermind, I'll just forward to you for kicks and giggles.

Are you and whittakker the same person? And have you or he made any progress yet?

/happy thanks to the indians day!

(spent lots of money at foxwoods last night, so I feel as if I've thanked them very well this year!)

Heh, no. Whitaker and I are separate people. :)

This doesn't appear to be an issue with your posts, at least from my tests here. It looks as if you may have touched on a deeper problem - we're still investigating!
(Yeah, I wasn't around for the holiday weekend.)

I have the same problem (Verizon, LX VG7000) with the "Data sent does not match MD5" error -- but only if I try having a text message, too. If I just do the picture, without any text or message, it works fine.

We may run into another issue soon with Cingular -- I don't know if it's something that you'll be able to resolve. Cingular just recently switched to an inline picture in their MMS instead of an attachment; it's kind of a pain in the butt and doesn't show correctly in some mail clients. I'm not sure people will be able to clip out the filler graphics that Cingular's plastered all over the MMS messages anymore.

(I work for them, for the record, and this annoys me, too.)

I got the same too. see http://www.livejournal.com/users/tsutton/1076794.html

I did save the photo on my phone - a Sony T610. Want me to send it to your e-mail address so you can look into this?

Same problem as others

I got the same type of md5 error as the others. I use sprint as carrier and have no problem posting by mobile email to lj normally.

Ditto with ATTWireless

I'm not getting an error message, but my post/image do fail to appear.
On a related note, when I email an image from my gmail account as an update, the image makes it here (to the scrap book), and an entry gets created at my livejournal
BUT
the entry contains a link instead of an inline image

vexing.

I'm having the same problem with my T-Mobile Sidekick II. It works if I send an image with no text though.
