ok, i'm not as stupid as i sound but ...

considering the fact that many digital cameras today offer the ability to capture live video and sound, is there any chance that we might be able to upload small / moderate sized .wav or .mpeg files in the future?

Absolutely. We've had plans for that for a long time, but the are other higher priorities at the moment.

Sounds cool... hopefully you guys can, you know, make it a little more reliable before adding video.
As of now when I post images to my LiveJournal, I get complaints EVERY TIME about how slow they load (they're compressed well too). I hope this gets fixed.
Then again, LiveJournal itself only goes through short spurts of working reliably, so I guess we'll see.
Exactly. Until yesterday it was only running on one webserver, and it doesn't use memcache at all. MogileFS is now serving userpics as well (was only doing fotobilder before), so it's way overloaded. November has already been declared "Polish FotoBilder and make it more reliable" month.

Hooray! Nothing's loading at all at the moment :(
This is the first thing I read when I woke up. Double checked and everything's fine.
I can't get to my account at all, the site just hangs, and the pics I'm using on my LJ layout haven't been seen since yesterday as far as I'm concerned. I can ping pics.livejournal.com, but I can't see any of my images.
I can see userpics, though.
How embarrassing. As soon as I post what I'm having problems with, everything is well. I shall have to try that again in future. Sorry, thanks :D
Hi, I just started this and I would like some help. I saw your website and it's interesting, and I would like a fre more pointers. THANKS!
there are other communities that are better suited to dealing with site building and other cool stuff. one community i find useful is lj_nifty
. you'll find that communities can be very specific in the subject matter that is discussed.
my advice would be to start by reading the LiveJournal FAQ. it has all the information you'll need to build up your journal. try experimenting. learning some HTML would help also.
Hey, Thanks! I really needed soem help :)
THat's a really cool idea but even small (2-5 minute tops) movies can take up a LOT of server space & bandwidth. I have had my domain put on hiatus by six different servers because I upload MP3s of me singing. Unless Livejournal has unlimited bandwidth and space, I don't think this is possible yet. People on dial ups & people like me who pay per minute both on our lines & ISPs would have to wait forever for the file to load.
I know nothing about computers. I just know what happened to me on my servers. I have been through a lot ofg servers because of problems with bandwidth.
