Client Update Error (Internal Server Error)

About

Previous Entry Client Update Error (Internal Server Error) Oct. 15th, 2004 @ 11:04 am Next Entry
I keep getting this error message while trying to upload some pictures using the Windows client - oddly, three specific pictures.  I can't see anything wrong with these pictures - I editted them with the same software as all the others I have uploaded, they aren't loo large, and I can't think of anything else that might be causing the error.  Has anyone else experienced it, or know why it's happening?

Have you had previous sucess with the windows client?

It's old and works for some folks and not others.

Untill someone writes a new one, use the web interface.

it seems to work fine when you upload to "unsorted"

you might not have known that...

Not for everyone. Some people can't even log in.

I was uploading to unsorted anyway because I've also been having the error where it can't update the galleries. *g*

Yes, 200+ pictures worth of success! It's just these three pictures that seem to be giving it grief. And when I tried to upload them using the web interface, I simply could not get any success with *anything* - I tried uploading a batch of five pictures and it just went to a default error message after trying to upload them.

Check your status. Is your account full with 200+ images?

It says I still have nearly 40MB left so, unless there is also a quantity limit... I don't know if there is or not?

Just tested by sending another couple of images, and they've gone fine. I think I'm just going to assume that the site and the client had had a tiff that evening. ;)

Don't forget it's still in beta, so transient issues are to be expected as they work on the backend.

I know, hence the reason I'm not foaming at the mouth about it. I was simply curious to see if anyone else had had the same message and/or knew if it meant anything specific.

When I had paid status, it already feels like a long time ago, I had specific pictures that refused to be uploaded through the client. They were not corrupt pictures or edited pictures... just normal JPGs.

Ooo, lucky! I tried several times and still couldn't get any success. I gave up eventually; thankfully it was nothing too important.

If other pictures worked fine, did you try resaving the problem pictures under another name? Then you can try to upload them. That might help figure out if it is something in those files that could be corrupt, or just the system being wonky. =)
