I was wondering if there is a way to put on pics.livejournal.com, somewhere that tells where the clients are to d/l, I understand the clients are always changing and stuff, but an update, or maybe a journal for specific clients? like semagic?

thank you!

We're working with client authors now. Part of the problem is we recently found a problem in our protocol, and we want to correct it before we encourage a lot of new clients to be written for the broken protocol.

(it's not so much broken, as it kinda violates HTTP enough that HTTP libraries make it difficult to implement)

whatever that all means ;)

I am just glad that the option of having clients listed will eventually be available. . .

Is there a way right now to find out which clients there are?

thank you.

http://pics.livejournal.com/site/clients lists a few that are available, and there are a couple of posts in this community about new clients that need testing.

My client, which isn't that useful (details in post): http://fotobilder-user.livejournal.com/43036.html

Phase client, which I haven't looked at, but looks pretty good: http://fotobilder-user.livejournal.com/36137.html

Word on the street is that there should be some new clients soon, like brad said. It's all waiting on a new revision of the protocol, though. Doesn't make a lot of sense for client authors to spend time working with a protocol that's broken and being revised.

I d/led your client a while back. . .told you I loved it, I think that was before my name change, but anyways, I went to use it the other night and it wouldn't work for me :/

which is what spurred this post.

I shall try to redownload yours later.

is it about multiple headers?

No, but that's another good point. HTTP allows that, but client libraries fuck it up a lot too.

Actually, we never required duplicate headers (comma-seperated was always an option), but we might've emitted them in some cases.

The real problem was our early-disconnect feature when uploading known pics. A lot of HTTP libraries can't deal with a response coming back before they're done sending the POST/PUT request.

That's been the problem I've been facing. Mono's HTTP library doesn't handle them right, and I'm not up to reimplementing it right now. That's the big reason why my client is .NET only at this point :)
