I think it be nice to have the option to add a border to the edge of an icon created with the "Upload/Manage user picture" tool. I just about always put a 1 pixel black border around all my icons and I think it really makes it look more finished.
Woah, I totally agree.
Doing the black border manually is a pain though. I suppose I could just make a template in photoshop with a top layer being the border... but.... so...... lazy........ (In fact, I'm surprised I had the wherewithal to comment here. Golly!)
someone i know whos skilled in paint shop pro creates her icons as 98x98 images and then theres an option at image -> add borders with which you can create a one pixel border around the 98x98 image to make it 100x100 with a border.
Not to belabor the point, but: Select|All, Select|Modify|Border, Set Foreground Color
Here's an action that does it, too:
I'm not sure if that'll work on a Windows box, though, as it was made with a Mac version of Photoshop.

And for you Gimp users...
Menu --> Filters --> Script-fu --> Decor --> Add Border

well what's the point of having a utility to resize images as icons if you have to download them and edit them in photoshop anyway?
and what i do is just apply my style in photoshop that sets a 1 pixel black inner border.
