Is there a way to take all your pictures and download them from the site to your computer? or is it just a matter of right clicking and saving?

thank you.

if you go to /manage/export.bml, that will export an XML file with gallery structure and URLs to all of the images, so it'd be simple to write a script to download/backup all of your images. In fact, the perl client (fotoup.pl) already does this.

But right now there isn't a Windows client with support for this.

I think maybe I am doing something wrong. . .or misunderstand you. . .I go to pics.livejournal.com, then to manage, then tack on the export.bml? cause that wasn't working for me.

well then we need a windows client ;)

Allow me to translate: there is currently no method to do that, but programmers can use that page to make a program that you would have to install your hard drive that could do that. For now you'll have to stick with right-click.

Although I might make a suggestion for the future: whatever you upload to the web, you should be keep an extra copy of everything on your hard drive.

well I do. . .but I went home this weekend, and did not take my laptop. And these were my parents digital pictures. so I was like, oh I can upload them to LJ and then save them to my laptop when I get home. . .little did I realize that it wasn't as easy as all that.

Drag-and-drop from Internet Explorer

Only in Windows XP did they introduce this feature. As I just noticed by testing. :) thank you

Re: Drag-and-drop from Internet Explorer

What I was talking about was holding the mouse down on a photo and dragging the pix to a file. Apple does not have a right click and the mouse uses a laser, not a ball.

Apparently the latest Windows does have a drag option, as nastajus has indicated.

Re: Drag-and-drop from Internet Explorer

Lets say you don't have your Internet window open fullscreen, but just filling up a portion of the monitor. Behind it you have the desktop, or an open folder. You can left-click, and hold, an image within Internet Explorer, and drag it to the desktop/folder, and let go, and Windows XP will put a file there containing the dragged image. And then you can rename it, because no one likes 4000006[1].jpg, for example.

On my Apple eMac it works with any pix. At least, I have not yet hit anything that it cannot work with.

to make clicking faster you can use Flashget which can grab all links from the page from right-click menu in IE
