Feedback on the Perl client
Jul. 25th, 2004 @ 12:41 pm
I seem to recall seeing this before: the Perl client gives the error "No disk space remaining for your account." if you don't have any galleries defined. I just tested it, and it does not do it if you have a gallery, even if you don't specify one on the command line.
It might be worthwhile adding the
~/.fotoup.conf documentation to the usage printout if you don't have one yet. I was expecting it, but only because I'd read the code.
Other than those minor issues, it's a fine piece of work. The ability to back up your photos is just wonderful (though I haven't tried it yet).

I'll look into that, thanks!
I just removed all of my galleries, then uploaded a single image with no problems... Can you still reproduce this?
Haven't tried; it seems to be working OK now. I'm guessing it might happen only with a totally new account: some difference in what the server reports when it knows you're not using any space (your case) vs. it hasn't allocated any space yet (my case).
Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to test that case tomorrow.
The "new account = no upload" theme does appear to be recurring. I think the remote interface starts working after a minimal number of operationa have been performed via the web interface.
