That's when I try and post to pp.com. What *is* the config file supposed to se the server as? When I try pics.livejournal.com I get

wechsler@gene:~/scripts$ ./fotoup.pl --under="Base" ~/restless1.gif
Uploading: /home/wechsler/restless1.gif

Re: Note:

... which is quite easily fixed by spelling my blasted password correctly!

Next problem:
wechsler@gene:~/scripts$ ./fotoup.pl --under="Base" ~/restless1.gif
Uploading: /home/wechsler/restless1.gif

No disk space remaining for your account.

Yet I'm told:

Disk quota: 50.00mb
Disk used: LiveJournal Photo Hosting: 0.00kb

Is there some step to the signup process I missed? I figure you used to have to mail for space, but that info appears to have been taken off this community's recent posts page.

Re: Note:

I use the Perl client exclusively.

Your ~/.fotoup.conf should be:

server: pics.livejournal.com
username: brad
password: foobar

Just tried it again and it worked for me. Can you upload through the web interface, so we can clear up that your account has the beta testing cap and you have quota?

Uploaded through web interface: http://pics.livejournal.com/wechsler/pic/00001zgt/s320x240

Through client:
http://pics.livejournal.com/wechsler/pic/00002wh3/s320x240
(works now - dontcha love bugs like that?)

but only the former appears in my gallery so far (http://pics.livejournal.com/wechsler/gallery/00001957)

Re: Note:

Add to your fotoup config:

defaultsec: 255

Which I guess is lame. We should make "public" an alias for 255.

Re: Note:

OK, changed the conf file and found another issue - spot the magic difference here:

wechsler@gene:~/scripts$ ./fotoup.pl --under="Base" ~/Picture002_11Jul04.jpg Uploading: /home/wechsler/Picture002_11Jul04.jpg
Getting challenge...
OK
upicid: 5
URL: http://pics.livejournal.com/wechsler/pic/00005r94

wechsler@gene:~/scripts$ ./fotoup.pl --gallery="Base" ~/Picture005_20Jul04.jpg
Uploading: /home/wechsler/Picture005_20Jul04.jpg
Getting challenge...
Adding to gallery: Base
OK
upicid: 7
URL: http://pics.livejournal.com/wechsler/pic/00007344

--gallery="Base" adds it to "Base".
--under="Base" stores it outside any gallery (ie under "Unsorted").

So, is 'under' a synonym of 'gallery', or is it Something Different™?

Re: Note:

--under is used when you transplant an entire directory structure (a whole tree) under another directory ("gallery") in fotobilder.

You'll want --gallery 99% of the time. --under is only for imports.
