I tried to overload the system by uploading 10 pictures that are about 400k each. It was going well for about ten minutes, then Safai gave me an error message that it could not connect to the server pics.livejournal.com. So my giganto pics made it slightly fubar (ie. time out) . This may be because everyone is trying it, though.

FUBAR = Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition. What movie is that from? I can't seem to remember.

Long time military term. Long before any movie would have used it.

Ah. I was thinking Saving Private Ryan but that's simply where I first heard it. That doesn't mean that's where it was invented. My logic is amusingly ... illogical ... at times.

You don't invent a word. Pretend I said "coined" and also pretend that I'm smart. :p

As a linguist, I give you permission to use invent for a word. Free the word classes! Revolution!

Anyway. FUBAR has been around since WW2, if my etymology stands up. I'm the least likely person to be using it for military reasons, though.

Though, to update my post, I can't even upload a single picture. I just keep getting error messages, saying that Safari can't connect to the pics server.

Dear Volsi, is your icon a shot from that thing which featured the actress from MI-5? I hate to admit it, being as old as I am and supposedly mature, but I developed a somewhat ridiculous celebrity crush on that actress last summer.

It's from Tipping the Velvet, a BBC Miniseries based on the eponymous book. I have no idea if either of the actresses is in MI-5... I have never seen that show.

Sorry for such a random late night comment.

Yes, her name is Keeley Hawes. She was in both Tipping the Velvet and MI-5 (known as "Spooks" in the UK). She can be checked out here.

I think I had seen screenshots of Tipping the Velvet while doing a little research on the actress last summer, so your icon just seemed very familiar.
