Rich Text Muddle

I am very frustrated that the entries now default automatically to rich text mode when posting photos from ScrapBook. I tried the work around suggested in a previous entry here and the screen jumps as I am highlighting the line to copy it and eliminates the highlighting. I've tried using the stop button but that does not eliminate the problem.
It worked for me, on Firefox. What browser are you using?
What th-?? Ohhhh, this is not good. ;^(
there's a source button, so I click that, highlight & copy, open a new "update journal" and paste that there.
be an easier way, but that's what works for me.
^ That's what I do as well. A few days ago I had a flamin' buttload of images to upload and post and every time I tried to do anything that silly rich text editor kicked me in the jimmies. I was pretty heated because, well, I like interfaces that do what I want them to do.
Then I discovered the trick of submitting the photos, clicking "source" and copying the text, opening a new update window and pasting. Then hacking out code as wanted/needed.
It's, like, extra steps galore. But it works.
I agree. I HATE this. I liked it sooo much better when I could edit the source.

Do the Powers That Be not read this community? I also think the new GUI/rich text mode is horrific and unusable. I haven't seen a single person say that they liked being forced to use the new interface. Are the PTBs just ignoring everybody?
They usually read here so I'm sure they'll pick up on it...
This annoys me a lot too. Usually I just sit at the update page until I see a "draft saved" note, then go manually to update.bml and restore from saved draft. It gets the source out of the RTE's clutches. But the "view source" trick sounds somewhat simpler.
It has annoyed me enough that I'm actually considering learning Greasemonkey and writing a script to ensure the RTE never comes up.

I put something in suggestions, and at this point in time it's been sent over for the people to hopefully do something about. . .

Yes, this is extremely aggravating, and I am already using Firefox so that's not it. Even in the source edit mode, it moves end tags around, ignores changes, and puts stuff back where I don't want it.
LJ! Make this thing optional or take it off. It doesn't work.
There's now an option in the Rich Text view to switch back to the plaintext editor.
